*~~ Introduction ~~*

This site was originally in my plans as just a simple page with my poem that I wrote about Jonathan, a couple of my absolute favorite pictures and a midi file. It was supposed to be one of four pages (my father who passed away in October of 2003, an online friend, and my grandfather are the other three) on a backside of my website. Then I joined an online email group and found a whole bunch of other fans like myself.

I found out about Jon's death on a message board called atforumz.com on November 19, 2003. I read it in a forum I only read in due to sheer boredom...I never read in there. I didn't want to believe it. It seemed like only yesterday that my walls were so full of pictures of 90210 stars and Jonathan that I had to literally run strings like clotheslines so I could put up more pictures. I even recall my grandfather yelling at me about them blocking the air vent in my room. Most of the pinups on those lines were of Jonathan, and I have to wonder if my grandfather is hunting high and low for Jon up there, wanting to complain to him about that very thing. ;-)

I lost my grandfather (who, along with my grandmother, raised me) in September of 1993. Jon's movies, especially Ladybugs, helped me through it, keeping a smile on my face and kept me wishing and dreaming. Two months later, I received something from the Jonathan Brandis Fan Club, in response to a letter I'd sent, asking for two pictures, one for myself, and one for my best friend, who has Muscular Dystrophy. Inside that envelope, were two sets of two different pictures (one being the studio pic and the other a picture of the cast of SeaQuest DSV). All of which were signed -- pen indentations clearly visible. Being only 16, I was flattered by the fact that he really read the letter and filled the request, doubly so, and my best friend was so happy to receive her set. To think about this brings tears to my eyes. To this day, it means so much to me that he thought so much of his fans. That in itself, was quite a healing thing for me so soon after my grandfather's passing.

In an effort to continue sharing Jon's legacy with others, I have decided to make The Good King a photo and article archive website. I will try to make this website as all-encompassing as I possibly can, seeing as I have TONS of articles and photos from the days when he reigned as king on the teen magazines that I'm anxious to share!

This stuff will take quite a lot of time and effort to scan in and post, but it will be worth it.
